Project - Antarang

Placement cell of Smt. M.M.P. Shah Women’s College of Arts & Commerce, has signed an MOU with Antarang Foundation.

The Placement Cell has collaborated with Antarang Foundation to conduct ‘Career Ready’ program for T.Y.BA students. This course was offered to the entire English & Gujarati T.Y. BA students in the second half of this academic year (2016-17) after a detailed orientation. Two batches of 35 students each from T.Y.B.A were formed who are presently undergoing the training program. It was conducted simultaneously from 11.30am -1.30pm from Monday to Friday.

The Career Ready Program was conducted in 40 sessions of 2hrs each. The areas which were covered are self-awareness, career awareness, work skills, work ethics and spoken English, resume writing, applying for jobs, giving interviews confidently. The program also included two expert speaker sessions, two exposure visits, three sessions on critical thinking and one parents’ meeting. After the programme came to an end, mock interviews were held to train the students for formal interviews. These sessions have shown a positive influence on the students’ careers. They have confidently prepared their resumes, attended pre-placement sessions, mock interviews and have applied for jobs of their liking in various companies. They will be going for interviews after their university exams.

Though the trainers were provided by Antarang, the infrastructure and help in conducting as well as co-coordinating various lectures is done by the placement cell. Placement cell is in constant touch with the trainers and are responsible in co-coordinating with the students about the same.

Apart from Employability Skills, these 70 students will be provided with a free APTECH Course (right from basic to advance) in any Aptech institute that falls in their vicinity. The students can also enroll for a free English Speaking course with the institute ‘Manpasand Life’ at Grant Road.

Placement cell of Smt. Maniben M.P. Shah Women’s College of Arts and Commerce has signed an MOU with Technoserve.

Placement cell in collaboration with Technoserve has initiated “Job Skill Development Program” for students of T.Y.B.Com, T.Y.BMS and T.Y.B.Com-AFI.

TechnoServe (TNS) is a not for profit economic development agency which creates business solutions to poverty. They work closely with rural and urbanizing women and men in developing countries to build enterprises that generate income, create livelihood opportunities and fuel economic growth. Headquartered in the United States, they operate in more than 30 countries.

Technoserve, under its ‘Job Skill Development Program’, focuses on improving the personality, communication skills, English speaking, goal setting and achievement, resume writing, applying for jobs and preparing for interviews. These sessions have had a profound impact on the students’ careers. They have confidently prepared their resumes, attended pre-placement sessions, mock interviews and have applied for jobs in various companies.

A number of students have already been employed even before the completion of the training program.

  • 5 students have got a job with ICICI Prudential with a starting salary package of Rs. 2,30,000/- per annum
  • 3 students have been selected at ‘Prodata’ with a package of Rs. 1,20,000/- per annum
  • 7 students have been shortlisted by ‘HERE Solutions’ and will soon be called for their final interview round
Many more students will be going for interviews after their university exams get over
